There is NO REGULAR SESSION ON FEBRUARY 22,
2011, due to the BAMO 8/12 competition. I repeat:
NO **REGULAR** SESSION ON FEBRUARY 22, 2011.
Instead, we will be proctoring the BAMO 8/12 test. Everyoe is expected to
take this test, either with BMC or at their schools. So even though there
is no regular session, please **COME TO BMC TO TAKE BAMO**.
BAMO will be proctored 4pm-8pm, in 740 and 1015 Evans.
WHEN IS IT?
The test will be proctored on February 22, 2011 at exactly 4:00pm, so
please ARRIVE AT 3:45pm so we can take care of the administrative things
in time to take the test at 4. This applies to both BAMO 8 and 12.
WHERE IS IT?
BAMO 8 will take place at 1015 Evans. This is on the 10th floor of Evans.
BAMO 12 will take place at 740 Evans.
Please report straight to the test-taking rooms; do not go to your regular
session rooms.
WHAT IF WE CAN'T GET THERE ON TIME?
This is not encouraged, as it will disturb the students taking the test.
You can talk to your school's administrative staff to ask to leave school
early if it is necessary. If you absolutely CANNOT arrive on time, do be
aware that you will not be given any exxtra time to take the test because
you were late.
WHAT DO WE BRING TO THE TEST?
Be sure to bring the following:
at least two sharpened pencils
an eraser
a ruler/straightedge
a compass
a triangle
The following is allowed, but optional:
a wristwatch
graphing paper
We will provide the official exams and other white scratch paper.
However, the following electroniccs are NOT ALLOWED:
calculators of any kind
cell phones (these MUST be turned off during the test)
iPods/Phones
any other electronic gadgets
If your watch has a built-in calculator, you cannot use that watch during
the test and must leave it in your backpack or at home.
Also, please do not bring opened food or drink into the classroom except
for water, which you must open BEFORE the test.
WHAT IF WE GET HUNGRY DURING THE TEST?
We realize that this test will take place during dinner time, and you will
get a little hungry. You may bring an UNOPENED snack and leave it in your
backpack. If you get hungry and need a boost, please ask for permission
from a parent or staff member, and you will be excused to quietly and
quickly eat your snack in the hallway (supervised). Please, do NOT eat in
the testing room.
WHAT HAPPENS IF WE FINISH EARLY?
You are allowed to leave early from the exam, if you believe you cannot
make any more progress with the problems. Please arrange to be picked up
accordingly.
WHAT ABOUT THE RESULTS?
When we receive the scores from the test, we will release them privately
to students at BMC (in person, no e-mails!). Watch out the BMC weekly to
let you know when we receive the results.
DO YOU NEED ANY HELP?
Yes!! We need a LOT of help! Unfortunately, both Zvezda and I will be
busy when the BAMO test is to be proctored, so we cannot be there at the
beginning. Former BMC assistant Michael and BMC speaker Aaron will be
helping out when the testing starts, but we still need a few parent
volunteers to help facilitate the process.
We will need **1-2 PARENT VOLUNTEERS** for BAMO 12 (room 740) and **2-3
PARENT VOLUNTEERS** for BAMO 8 (room 1015). If you are available, please
send both Zvezda and me an email with your interest. If you choose to
volunteer, it is preferred if you can arrive a little early, like 3:40, so
you can be briefed on the situation.
Once again, it is VERY IMPORTANT that we have parent volunteers, so please
let us know of your availability ASAP.
Thanks so much in advance!
